I now have a smile on my face when I go to my basement, thanks to Tillar.  After several moves there were boxes everywhere.  I had no idea how he was going to handle this job.  He came in and helped me make decisions I could never have made by myself.  He organized my basement according to my needs.  He was so pleasant and great to work with.  It was unbelievable that after only four days of work everything was so organized.  I can find anything I am looking for.  As I stood in the middle of my basement to thank him I had tears in my eyes.  He is not only the best at what he does, but he is a wonderful, caring person.  Thank you Tillar!

I have my house back!  After two generations and 61 years of accumulation my basement and garage have been transformed.  My father died four years ago and every year since my goal was to sort, toss and organize my basement and garage.  I saw Tillar's ad in the "Best Times" magazine of Johnson County, went to his website, saw his "Before & After" photos and knew there was no reason to put it off any longer.  Tillar immediately responded to my inquiry.  He way a joy to work with, non-judgmental, but forthright in his recommendations.  With his guidance I was able to consolidate tools, equipment, and perserve cherished memories and momentos.  My house is now complete.  I would love to give his services as a gift to my family in the future..

Tillar was a lifesaver for me. We had to empty our house to sell after 41 years of living there with four children, one dog, and two cats over that time. I'm a saver,  so imagine how much "STUFF" there was - from toddler toys to college memories. Tillar was patient with my indecisions and sentimentality. He'd wait and then make suggestions.  Once I decided where I wanted to store or get rid of items, he'd load the truck then haul the treasures to their new home whether that was permanent storage or a charitable donation. He is all the descriptors others have named him - - - punctual, a very hard worker, pleasant to work with, and energetic. Initially, I would like to thank Tillar personally for not only being incredibly good at what he does - creating functional storage areas, but for being "empathetic."  To all of you out there who DON'T want to get rid of every emotional scrap of sentiment they have collected or to justify it to the typical "have you used it in the past year?" organizer --- Tillar has a heart of gold and "get's it."  There were many items in my basement that I did not want to part with, for personal reasons, but simply wanted to be able to create an area to contain them. The thought of a clearing house is comfortable for some people but it was NOT the right fit for me.  Tillar was the perfect fit.  He did not question my reason for wanting to hang on to memories and built a beautiful storage area that everyone who has stepped into my basement has been envious of .  I now find it easy to find, add to or part with papers, mementos, accumulations when I'm ready.  Important stuff - to me - is now contained in a customized shelving that makes the entire basement feel clean, open and inviting. Wish I had hired Tillar 20 years ago!!!  He's professional, industrious and kind.  To all of you who know you "should" get rid of everything that's not a necessity but also recognize you are sentimental and you have a right to keep what's precious to you -- let Tillar allow you to organize your life so that you are proud of your own individualized "sentimental journey".

Tillar has done a variety of jobs for me for the past thirteen plus years. I have always been pleased with the results and especially with his most recent work, the organization of the storage section of my basement.

My storage area contained many saved, useless things and many boxes of family memorabilia.
He sorted it all. Made many trips to the recycle, trash, and charity facilities. The remaining boxes are all labeled with easy access. Excellent results!

Tillar transformed my life! My basement office, two storerooms and garage were all filled with years of belongings - most numerous were unnecessary papers from years of management work. Old notebooks, work folders, boxes of papers I no longer wanted - I just did not have the energy to go through it all. Tillar took at least five TRUCKLOADS! of paper to recycling, two truckloads of cardboard, a couple of truckloads for donations. When he was finished, the office, storerooms and garage are all areas I can be proud of.

My kids had stored their things in my basement long enough! I had asked them to get the items out or else! When I found Tillar's advertisement in the Leaven, I knew I had found the guy to get the job done. I first looked at his website, then gave him a call. My kids finally decided what they wanted to keep and Tillar cleaned out the rest. It only took him two days - I was very pleased with the results. The basement is clean and free of all the clutter.

"We had basement challenges both at my home and in my law office. Both are small spaces, but we have a lot of storage needs. Tillar's system of sorting through and organizing along with custom built shelving provided not only a more efficient storage space but appeared to double or triple the size of both areas. It is unique in my experience that Tillar will donate unwanted items and provide a receipt. He was prompt coming everyday and did not quit until the job was completed.

We had similar challenges in our garage where he built custom shelves, added lighting and a built-in work bench. Again significantly increasing our space. He seems to enjoy what he is doing and we were comfortable entrusting him with our office and house keys.

Thanks to Tillar Swalm, my house is finally organized and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I couldn't imagine where to start with this huge undertaking until I saw his ad in the Leaven. He jumped right in and helped me make the decision of "keep, donate or throw away"!! The thing I really appreciated was his promptness. Organized my garage from top to bottom. Hauled off discarded items and junk. He did over and above what I expected.

Tillar arrived right on time. He began working immediately. He completely organized my garage to perfection. It took 2 days for my overloaded, dirty garage to be completely clean and organized. Tillar put up shelves, organized all of my tools, gardening equipment, plus everything that had been stuffed or crammed in boxes, bags, old paint, many things I hadn't seen in years or though I had lost or didn't have. Everything has a place now and it is amazing. I plan on using Swalm's Organizing again in the future!

We had a 3 car garage and 3 storage areas in our basement that needed to be combined, sorted through, and reorganized. In the basement we were making a storage area, an indoor workshop, and a small office. In the garage we were hoping for a workshop area in one stall, a place for bikes, lawnmower, etc. in another stall, and to park our car in the last stall. Tiller responded immediately to the email message that I sent to him. He was on a trip and called me from several states away to let me know that he got my message and to make arrangements to meet with me. He came over and gave us his suggestions and listened to the ideas that we had. He showed up on the day that he said he would and worked very hard helping my husband sort through the many boxes, stacks, piles, barrels, etc. that had gathered up over the years.

Tillar built shelves, built racks to hang tools from, moved workbenches and cabinets, was very good about cleaning up as they went along. He helped my husband make decisions as whether to keep items, recycle items, or simply send things to the trash. He was patient with my husband - not too pushy. (My husband keeps every..........thing!) What Tillar, along with my husband, accomplished in about 4 1/2 days, was amazing! He was methodical and kept the 'ball rolling'. I am very pleased. I am a very organized, type "A" personality, and these areas were causing me so much frustration. Tillar came in and took care of about 30 years of anxiety.

I highly recommend him to others. He is a pleasant man, friendly, kind, punctual, and wants to please his customers.The job took about 1 1/2 days longer than he originally thought- but his first estimation came solely from 'pictures of our mess' that I had emailed to him. We also made some changes to our original ideas, which increased the time schedule. Not knowing what anyone else would have charged, I accepted the amount that he quoted me. Due to medical issues I was in desperate need of clean up and re-organization of my garage. Tillar provided significant expertise in handling the task at hand. I was more than pleased with his work. He charged a flat fee for his services, plus I covered the expense for recommended storage materials which he suggested to best handle the job. I intend to "invite" him to return to tackle other overwhelming jobs ahead... Like my basement. I would also like to comment on his professionalism; Tillar never was critical about the mess, but just went ahead quickly getting things organized. He was a pleasure to work with and I will be looking forward to having his services again. What a difference he has made. I totally appreciate his approach and the quality of his work.

Mr. Swalm cleaned my garage and my deck and hauled away two truck loads of junk to the dump or to be donated. He took away old books, toys, tools, trash, a bar-b-que grill, flower pots, and garden tools.
I called on a Wednesday morning, Mr. Swalm was out of town but listened to what I needed and gave me a description of his service. We agreed that he would call me when he returned to town. He called a week later and made an appointment to come to my house the next day.

He showed up on time and gave me his card my door. I showed him the spaces. He explained his rate is $300/day and the jou would take about a day. I was on my way out of town for the weekend but he agreed to call me the following Monday. He called me Sunday night to make an appointment and we agreed that he would come out on Tuesday at 8:30 am. He was on time on Tuesday and began with the garage. After organizing the "stuff" into groups, he walked through the stuff with me and asked what should be kept. It was trash day in my neighborhood and he put some items at the curb for the truck. We then went to the same process with the deck. He stopped for lunch around noon and took a load to the dump. He returned about 90 minutes later and finished at about 3:00 pm. He broke down a few cardboard boxes for me to recycle and put some old paint into a box for me to take to the recycle center. I am very pleased with the job.

Tillar organized our garage, delivered and installed shelving for the garage, and made numerous improvements in where we stored items. He completely organized all of my gardening tools all in one place, using wonderful new hooks. He also fixed several cabinet doors that would not open properly nor stay closed, by sawing off from the bottom of the doors then he rehung them so that we now have easy to use storage.

He also hung two 8' long sun screens from our arbor and he installed a shade cloth over the arbor. He hauled away unwanted items that could not be donated. He left behind a clean, organized garage with a proper place for everything, and a patio we can enjoy throughout the summer.
It went great from start to finish; wished I'd done it sooner! Tillar arrived when he said he would, he made helpful suggestions and he was a joy to work with. We're thrilled with the results.
